Hiking in the Green Mountains

Vermont is know for some of the best hiking in New England – the Green Mountains providing a network of trails with views of rivers, waterfalls, wildlife and a rolling Vermont landscape.  Several trail-heads exist within walking distance from Kampersville, as well as many others just a short drive away.  Maps are available at our General Store.

Sunset ridge is a short hike that leads to views of Moosalamoo and the northern end of Lake Dunmore.

Falls of Lana, Mooselamoo & Silver Lake

A 5 minute drive from Kampersville is the Falls of Lana trail-head.  A short hike leads you over the Sucker Brook, and to a picnic area and the Lake Dunmore overlook.  Near the brook crossing, several other trails branch off including Moosalamoo and Silver Lake.  The trail to Mt. Moosalamoo includes the Rattlesnake Cliffs at the top – this scenic vantage points gives you the “top of the world” view of Lake Dunmore and Addison County.  Silver Lake is a large mountain lake, good for fishing or just enjoying the hike.

Keewaydin

Many trails weave their way up the west side of Moosalamoo from Keewayden.  One of the most popular being the Ethan Allen trail – see the caves that legendary Ethan Allen and the Green Mountain boys used at one point in time.
